Closing 2024 and Reflecting on 2023: The Last Surf Session and Year of Building Waves with Hi-Resolution Consulting 🌊

As the sun rose on December 31, 2023, I paddled out into the ocean for my last surf session of the year, reflecting on a whirlwind journey that was both exhilarating and challenging. From launching Hi-Resolution Consulting to building a client base, expanding our team, and creating partnerships, this year was a wild wave in the world of digital transformation. Just like surfing, every business milestone brought excitement, some stumbles, and powerful reminders about resilience.

Riding the Waves of Growth

This year marked many firsts: landing direct contracts, launching our website, expanding client relationships, and building our brand. The past six months especially felt like riding a powerful swell. Some days were all about nailing that perfect wave—celebrating client successes and reaching project milestones. We’re particularly proud of our collaboration with Kuakini Health System, where we helped optimize digital strategies to transform patient engagement and enhance operational efficiency. Achievements like these feel a lot like catching that ideal wave, the one that makes all the hard paddling worth it!

But, just as there are perfect waves, there are wipeouts, too. Starting a new business has been a constant learning experience—one that requires flexibility, adaptability, and sometimes a reset. Between unexpected hurdles and long nights, 2023 reminded us that every setback is a chance to learn and recalibrate.

Lessons from the Ocean: The Highs and Lows

That last day in the ocean brought a moment that felt symbolic of the year. Conditions were perfect: light winds, a great north swell. I was catching waves, witnessing a sunrise that painted the sky in colors no photo could capture. Then, in pursuit of an especially promising wave, I wiped out. My board broke free, and I found myself a mile offshore, treading water.

As I watched my board drift away, a fellow surfer noticed my predicament. Without hesitation, he grabbed my board, paddling it back to me with a wave of aloha spirit. This moment was a reminder of the support I’ve received in business—from mentors, colleagues, friends, and family. Just like in surfing, the journey is easier (and more fun!) when you have people there to help when the going gets tough.

Embracing Resilience and Community

Reflecting on the year, the theme of resilience stands out. Every misstep and success became a lesson, strengthening the foundation of Hi-Resolution Consulting. Just as a surfer adapts to each wave, our team adapted to each challenge, pivoting when needed and pushing forward with determination.
